EPC

An EPC Assessment demonstrates how energy efficient a property is. Any properties that are being marketed for sale or rent, or are newly built in the UK must have a valid EPC Certificate.

Our highly trained Surveyors are also qualified Domestic Energy Assessors.  This means that we can combine our knowledge of buildings and valuation, with sustainability and energy efficiency to provide accurate EPCs and advice to our clients.

Prospective buyers and landlords are taking more notice of EPC ratings, predominately because of sustainability issues, changes to government legislation and the cost of gas and electricity.

What is an Energy performance Certificate?

A domestic EPC is a report that assesses the energy efficiency of a property, providing an A to G rating, with A being the most efficient and G being the least efficient. This report outlines ways to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy bills, and lower carbon emissions.

Why do I need an EPC?

Compliance with regulations: A domestic EPC is required by law when a property is built, sold, or rented. Having an up-to-date EPC can ensure compliance with regulations and prevent legal issues.

Improved property value: A high EPC rating can increase a property’s value and attract potential buyers or renters who are environmentally conscious and interested in energy efficiency.

Energy savings: An EPC report can identify areas where energy efficiency can be improved, such as insulation, heating systems, or appliances. Implementing these improvements can result in significant energy savings and lower energy bills.

Environmental benefits: Improving energy efficiency can reduce carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment and a sustainable future.

Why are they important?

An EPC is important to landlords and prospective buyers or tenants as it demonstrates how energy efficient a property is. If the property has a low rating, the energy bills for that property could be high.

Without a valid EPC property owners could face a significant penalty.
