Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the housing market with many people unable to pursue or complete a purchase. As we emerge from the total lockdown, the housing market has started to move again, albeit with some constraints. Estate agents are now back at work and socially distanced viewings are taking place. This means people are now able to move to a new house. These are the first steps on the road back to full activity in the market.
There will be some pent-up demand in the market because so many people have had to put their plans on hold during the pandemic. Buyers are also eager to get their situation moving again. Property portal Rightmove reported its busiest ever day on May 27th with more than 6 million visits to its listings. There may be a quicker recovery seen in the new homes market because it is easier to perform socially distanced and virtual viewings in empty properties.
The pace of recovery, beyond the short-term bounce in the sector, will depend largely on the state of the wider economy as we start to see businesses operate again. However, the market is moving, and people are ready to look for and buy their next home.
At Avery & Co. like so many other businesses out there, have had to adapt to a ‘new normal’ in our business and working practices due to the impact of Covid-19. We have ensured that we have carefully monitored and adhered to all government and industry standard advice and guidelines issued and are now able to perform surveys in a safe and socially distanced manner. All of our surveyors understand the new guidelines and have been issued with PPE and door openers so that as little as possible is touched in any home.
If you are planning on moving house in the near future then a survey could save you thousands of pounds in unwanted repairs. Having a survey means that you are making a more informed decision about whether or not you wish to renegotiate the price in light of the findings, withdraw altogether for the purchase or proceed with confidence. Our homes are the biggest investment most of us will make during our lifetimes, so getting it right is a must.
Avery & Co. are open again and taking bookings for all types of surveys. If you would like to discuss what survey type may be the right choice for you then please do get in touch. You can contact us via the website or call us on 01513212000 where staff will be happy to discuss your needs and see how we can help.
Sometimes the purchase of your home may fall through. If you have previously booked a HomeBuyer Report with us, we will offer you up to 10% loyalty discount* off your next survey. Just Quote "PROMO10" and we will be happy to help.PROMO10
