Everyone at Avery & Co Surveyors is delighted with the news that Kate Avery has been selected as a finalist in the RICS Matrics Valuation Surveyor of the Year category in their prestigious annual awards event.
The awards recognise the outstanding contribution to the advancement of the built environment and celebrates the finalists’ role as industry leaders. The judging panel consists of industry experts, ensuring integrity and rigour throughout the judging process.
This year’s entries showcase exceptional talent and demonstrate the emerging talent within the surveying profession across the UK.
Katie displays exceptional professionalism and is highly focussed on adopting RICS standards. She continues to coach the team here at Avery & Co in order to produce the highest possible standards of customer care. Katie also created a concise guide for customers regarding the options available to them when considering survey products. This is sent out to every potential customer at the enquiry stage and plays a vital role in ensuring that customers are properly advised and that their expectation are clearly met.
Katie also regularly audits and feeds back to surveyors and support staff as well as reviewing external feedback platforms. She has demonstrated a clear commitment across the whole customer experience, from initial enquiry to finished report, to provide clear and effective communication with every customer, keeping them updated every step of the way. This is evidenced by the many excellent reviews that can be found on Trustpilot.
Katie also recognises the importance of environmental matters relating to property. She has arranged and co-ordinated EPC assessor training for surveyors within the practice to become qualified Domestic Energy Assessors. This not only demonstrates innovation in itself, but has significantly raised environmental awareness relating to property matters. It has resulted in surveyors having a much better understanding of the impact of energy matters on residential property and has enabled them to better interpret Energy Performance Certificates and provide a significantly better level of advice to customers, particularly under the ‘Energy Matters’ section of the RICS Home Survey Standard. Energy matters will undoubtedly be playing a much greater part in the advice RICS surveyors provide to customers in the future, and this innovation has enabled the practice to positively embrace these coming changes.
In line with the greater understanding of environmental issues, Katie has also overseen the phasing out of the firm’s small fleet of petrol vehicles and replaced them with electric vehicles. This innovation demonstrates a major commitment to the environment as well as promoting green responsibilities to our clients and customers.
The RICS Matrics Surveyor Awards were formerly known as the Young Surveyor of the Year Awards and are back for their 10th year recognising and celebrating the talent in the profession.
RICS is committed to not only recognising talent, but also to giving a voice and a platform to the future leaders of the profession. The winners will have ongoing opportunities to be spokespeople for the industry and continue to showcase the talent and opportunities available.
We would like to wish Katie, and all the nominees, the very best of luck at the awards ceremony, we will be rooting for you!
